Meet Our Guides

Cory pierson

Originally from South Dakota, I have lived in the mountains of Colorado since 1996. Fly fishing and guiding have become my life’s focus. Stonefly Angler is my vision of what a professional guide service should be and I consider it a privilege to spend each day on the water. I am driven to succeed no matter the situation or conditions. Being in the right place at the right time to catch fish is my constant goal. Over the years I have been fortunate to be featured in many publications and articles, including Southwest Fly-Fishing, Colorado Outdoors, and Cortland Line Company. For me guiding has become an excuse to hang out with many repeating clients, fishing is just the bonus.

As a native of Colorado, I have had a lifetime of fishing the waters of this beautiful state. I began guiding in 1993 and appreciate the diverse and unique fishery this state offers. Whether floating the larger rivers or plying the small streams, I enjoy the challenge of β€œfooling” the trout with artificial flies. Being an avid upland bird hunter, I especially enjoy the hunting aspects of trout fishing.
In 2005 I became a charter captain and have been guiding the Naples, Florida area since. The winter and spring find me in the 10,000 Islands and the Everglades National Park fishing for Tarpon, Snook and Redfish. Again, the hunting aspects of flats fishing have helped me to appreciate this type of intense fishing.
Good friends who like to fish, what more can a guide ask for?

Born and raised in Colorado, I have been fly fishing since the age of nine. I have truly fallen in love with the sport where I aspire to constantly improve both my knowledge and ability. These beautiful mountain streams and rivers have given me such unique experiences and memories, ones that I hope to share with all anglers.
